There are different ways to get to Mergui Archipelago. You can easily reached here via Yangon or Bangkok or Phuket by air, bus and private car.
Traveling from Yangon / Myanmar
If you are traveling around Myanmar and want to join our Island Safari as an extension of your Myanmar trip, you need to get a flight from Yangon to Kawthaung. Kawthaung can be reached from Yangon by any domestic airlines during the whole year. The flight takes 3 hours (with two stops on the way). Flight tickets and transfer from Kawthaung Airport to the pier can be organized by us. Contact our sales office for details.
Traveling from Thailand via Ranong
If you plan to enter Myanmar from the Thai border in the south you have to travel via Ranong. From here you have to take a boat ride to cross the river to Kawthaung. Moby Dick Tour can arrange a personnel pick up service around Ranong with support for all the immigration procedure.
How to reach Ranong:
- via Bangkok
– by plane
This is maybe the most convenient option. There are flights via Happy Air as well as Nok Air. Please check out the WebPages for more details. It is a 1 ½ hrs flight from Suvarnaphumi Airport in Bangkok to Ranong and both airlines departure around 13.00 (01.00 pm) to Ranong. – via bus
There is a regular bus schedule from Bangkok’s southern bus terminal to Ranong. The VIP Bus (24set) is leaving at around 20.00 (08.00pm) in the evening for a 9 hrs overnight journey to Ranong. A 40 Set regular bus is leaving Bangkok around 20.30 (08.30) for a 10hrs journey to Ranong.
– private car / minibus
You also can hire a private car or minibus to bring you from either the airport or you hotel in Bangkok to Ranong. The prices are quite high and the journey will also be around 9hrs. - via Phuket or Surat Thani
Maybe you plan to visit Phuket or Surat Thani before you come to join one of our Island Safari programs. To reach Ranong via Phuket or Surat Thani you have to use the road.
– by join in bus (VIP or regular bus)
There are regular bus transfers leaving Surat Thani (3-4 Hours) or Phuket (4-5 Hours) bus terminal for Ranong.
– private car / minibus
You also can hire a private car or minibus to bring you from either the airport or you hotel in Phuket / Surat Thani to Ranong.
– by join in private minibus journey directly from Phuket/ Khao Lak to Kawthaung
We are able to organize a join in minibus transfer from Phuket / Khao Lak, the minibus will collect the guests from different meeting points around the island between 06.00 – 06.30 (06.00am – 06.30am ). The journey takes around 4 – 5 hrs with a short break. After arriving at the Immigration office in Ranong you will take the journey across the river to Kawthaung, where our Staff awaits you.
