Here is the list of fun and adventure things to do in Mergui Islands Archipelago, boating around an island to another for their different unique attractions. You may also see in our video how beautiful it is.

Kawthoung

Kawthaung is also known as “Victoria Point” is the southernmost border town in Burma. This bustling little fishing town lives off the border trade to and from Thailand and is the entry point to the Mergui Archipelago boasting over 800 tropical islands. Visit the local market to buy souvenirs, enjoy the “Victoria Point”, the “King Bayint Naung” Statue and the Pyidawaye Pagoda on the hill overlooking the entire town with magnificent views across the Pakchan River to Ranong.
Kawthaung can be reached from Yangon by any domestic airlines during the whole year. Ranong can be reached by mini bus from Surat Thani (3-4 Hours) or Phuket (4-5 Hours) or from Bangkok with the overnight air-con VIP bus (8-9 hours). There are several regular daily flights from Bangkok to Surat Thani and Phuket with Thai Air or Air Asia.

The Three Islets (115 Island)

A group of islands, the Three Islets (115 Island) is about 38 nautical miles away from Kawthuang. Great to swim and snorkel with tons of fishes through the crystal-clear water, hard and soft corals. One of the best islands in Mergui Archipelago to spend time on tropical jungle trekking. You will find a lot of beautiful shells swapped in from the ocean. Sand beaches are very white and powder. It’s no wonder visitors come from all around to sink their toes into miles of pure white sand.

Nyaung Wee Island (Buda Island)

Buda Island, also referred to as Nyaung Wee Island, is south of Lampi and part of the Mid Group. The island is home to a Moken village called Makyone Galet, which is situated on its east coast and offers some fun hikes and great views across the nearby isles. The village head proudly estimates that the islands is the home of 500 inhabitants but walking along the beach that seems to be a very optimistic estimate. There is a scenic little house on stilts in front of the beach where local fishing boats like to refill fresh water. Some of the local fishing families will be happy to cook meals for visiting sailors and the kids are always excited to see foreign visitors.

Bo Cho Island

Bo Cho Island is the largest sea gipsy settlement in the area. You will get surrounded by curious kids. Bring some small gifts and be even more overwhelmed by their warm welcome. Walk through the village and take scenic pictures from the Pagoda located on the hill overlooking the entire village. Chill-out onboard and observe the daily life of the almost extinct sea-gypsies.

Lampi Island

Lampi Island is a huge island in Mergui Archipelagos. It is famous with its mangrove lagoon forest. There is a marine national park in lampi island called Lampi Island Marine National Park. You can learn how to use a kayak and take the chance to explore the ancient mangrove forest with your friend.

Tar Yar Island

Kayaking experience in Tar Yar Island will be amazing. You can also swimming and snorkeling. There are 4 km long tidal river perfect for your kayaking. Follow the stream, which is leading us right into the heart of the island. Immerse yourself in this fragile eco-system, while passing noisy monkeys looking for food on large sand bars. The views and the sounds of the ancient rainforest reminds one of scenes seen in the movie Jurassic Park.

Ko Phawt Island

You will see beaches of white sand and crystal clear blue water in Ko Phawt island. It is a tropical island located in the Mergui Archipelago. You will learn more about the trees, herbs and wild life. Be amazed by the beautiful view of this island and question yourself how the people here still live in perfect harmony with nature. You may try out some ancient spear fishing techniques or paddle in one of their traditional canoes which is hand-carved out of one single tree trunk.

Sa Let Ga Let Island & Wa Ale Island

You can also fish yourself for some fresh sea food. You can take the sea kayak and cross the bay to a small islet or trek through the mangroves to the other side of the island. Enjoy the magnificent views or discover what kind of corals and fishes you can find underwater.

Pilar Island

Pilar Island is also called Kyun Phi Lar in local language. Sometimes, monkeys sitting on the beach and enjoying his delicious crabs. You will see long white sand beaches without any footprint.

High Rock (Hlaing Gu Island)

High Rock Island is also called Hlaing Gu Island in local language which mean cavern. You will find some ideal backdrops for your adventure photo album. Explore the various secluded beaches and take a sunbath on one of them. Return to the boat and eat as much as you like from the absolutely delicious food. Afternoon relax on our sundeck or in your gazebo and enjoy the fresh sea breeze.
