The boat and crew of the Sea Gipsy exceptional

Hi Heike and Nyein,
I just got back from my trip through the Mergui Archipelago, and we all had the most fantastic time. Thank you to both of you for your patience in helping all of us plan this. I know it was a lot of work since the way travel works in Myanmar is much different than what a group of Americans like us are used to.

Please do pass onto the owner that we found the boat and crew of the Sea Gipsy exceptional. I cannot emphasize that enough. Thaingar, the captain, the cook, the boat boys — we were actually very sad when it came to say goodbye to them in Kawthuang. All were kind and helpful, and we just felt very lucky to travel with them. They are fantastic.

I brought back a bunch of the Mergui maps and booklets from the boat and have been passing them out to friends in New York. So I’m hoping you’ll hear from some of them soon!

Thanks again both of you. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I’m already thinking about coming back to Yangon.
